VOLLEYBALL

After over a week’s break, the HU volleyball team traveled to Grace College Monday night where they dropped a 3-1 decision, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-14, to the Lancers (7-4, 7-4). It was the same score the last time these two squads faced off back in the middle of September.

The Foresters came out firing on all cylinders offensively to double up their hosts in kills, 16-8, to cruise to the seven-point victory in set one. The set saw Abby Robinson lead a balanced attack with five kills. Tya Bynum chipped in four while Brea Metz and Brandy Michie added three apiece. As a team, the Foresters finished the set with a .279 hitting percentage to Graces’ .024.

While HU (0-13, 0-12) kept their hosts within sight over the next two sets, Grace came out on top and then cruised to the fourth and final set to wrap up the sweep of this neighborhood rivalry.

Robinson finished with a match-tying 13 kills to go along with ten digs for the double double. Bynum also logged double-digit kills with ten. Jennings Tacosik orchestrated the offense with 41 assists. She also finished with eight digs, three aces, and 1.5 blocks.

Ariene Butler topped her team in digs with 21 while Hannah Maier added ten and Nicole Flickinger pitched in nine.

“Grace did a good job of making adjustments throughout the match,” said Coach Herber. “We did not execute adjustments as well on our end.

“When an opportunity is placed before us, we need to have the fundamental discipline, the competitive mindset and the vocal energy of a champion.”

Next up for Herber and crew is a trip to Goshen on Friday.
