Fall 2020 Forester Lecture

Professor Dom Caristi, of Ball State University, will present via Zoom on Tuesday, Oct 27 at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Caristi’s lecture is on “Legal Issues of Social Media.” Dr. Caristi will explain hot-topic issues such as, who can say what on social media? Is anything in social media really private? Can social media administrators censor communications? How does that intersect with freedom of speech? Dr. Caristi has kindly offered to interact with the HU community in a question and answer period after his presentation.
Dom Caristi (PhD, Univ. of Iowa) is a professor of telecommunications at Ball State University. He is co-author of Communication Law 2nd edition (2018) with William Davie. He was a Fulbright Professor in Slovenia in 1995 and in Greece in 2009 and has been a visiting professor in Italy. He has served fellowships with the Radio Television News Directors Association and the National Association of Television Program Executives. In 1998 he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Broadcasters Association. A member of the Broadcast Education Association for more than 30 years, he served on the Board of Directors from 1997-2002, including a term as its vice president. Dom is the associate director of the Digital Policy Institute and a founding member. In 2012 he received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award from Ball State.
