WOMEN’S SOCCER

Up against Taylor for the second time this season, the Forester women’s soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss to the Trojans at Turner Stadium. The first time around, TU also got the best of HU 6-1.

Because COVID has forced numerous postponements, the league has opted to adjust the Crossroads League standings from two divisions to one. With this decision, any second round games against CL opponents are considered non-conference matches and won’t affect the league standings.

With today’s outcome, the Foresters drop to 1-8-1 overall while the Trojans improve to 5-4 on the year.

The hosts scored twice by the 24:43 mark with only two minutes separating the two goals to jump ahead 2-0 and claim a lead that wouldn’t be challenged. TU added another goal before intermission and then piled on two more in the second half. Unfortunately, Huntington finished with just a handful of shots because the Trojans spent much of the contest possessing the ball.

“We had a letdown tonight,” said Coach Lewis. “Taylor played very well and scored several nice goals.”

Riley Voss and Maddy Moan split time in goal with Voss getting tagged with the loss. The rookie keeper spent the first 45 minutes in frame during which she collected eight saves.

Next up for Lewis’ squad is a trip to Mount Vernon on Wednesday.
