CROSS COUNTRY

The awards continue to pile up for Huntington University sophomore Emma Wilson who was tabbed the NAIA Women’s Runner of the Week for the second straight week as announced by the national office earlier today.

Wilson’s 5K performance at the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede this past weekend proved the top time in the nation across all college divisions so far this fall. The Greencastle native clocked in at 16:24 which also established a new course record and blew away the competition with over 1 minute 15 seconds separating her from the second-place finisher.

In addition to garnering a pair of NAIA National Runner of the Week designations, Wilson also boasts three Crossroads League Runner of the Week badges to date.

Joining Wilson in the national spotlight this week is senior Adrien Gentie who was voted the NAIA National Runner of the Week on the men’s side. The senior harrier dominated the 8K by crossing the line in 24:43 to claim the individual title and set a new NAIA men’s course record.

This is Gentie’s third NAIA National Runner of the Week accolade having earned two last fall.

The duo each lead their respective Forester squad to a top finish out of a field of 25 teams. The Seminole Valley Stampede was held at Seminole Valley Park which is the site for the NAIA National Championships slated for this spring.

HU’s final race this fall is the Crossroads League Championships set for November 7.
