WOMEN’S TENNIS

Senior Lanae Singleton and junior Morgan Fitzpatrick represented the HU women’s tennis team at ITA Regionals where they paired up in doubles play as the 7th seed to win the consolation bracket.

After losing in the opening round to IU Southeast’s DeWitt/DeWitt, 8-2, the duo dropped to the back draw where they easily rolled through the bracket to claim their bragging rights as the champions of the consolation bracket.

Their first win was an 8-1 decision over Clark/Johnson (IU Kokomo) which sent them to the finals where they disposed of Orlando/O’Rourk (IU Kokomo) 8-4 to wrap up the W.

Both also played in the singles main draw and had similar experiences. After each received a first round bye, they made quick work of their opponent in the second round before being eliminated in the quarterfinals in tiebreaker fashion.

“Lanae and Morgan played a lot of tough tennis matches the last three days but were able to pull it all together on the final day to win the consolation doubles tournament,” noted Coach Ferguson.

ITA Regionals was the final outing for the Foresters this fall. HU finishes the fall portion of their schedule with a 4-5 record.
