Telehealth vs. Telemedicine/Virtual Visits

Telehealth, including wellness visits, has been added to our medical plan beginning March 15, 2020. Please read the communication from UMR, our third party administrator explaining the difference between Telehealth and Telemedicine Vendors such as OC24 or Teledoc.

Telehealth allows patients to have a virtual visit with their primary care provider. You can also have your annual wellness exam through a virtual visit. The cost share is the same as an in-person visit.

Telemedicine is delivered through vendors such as OC24 or Teledoc. You will get a doctor assigned by the system and not your primary care physician. There is usually a flat fee and it is available to anyone, not just members of our health insurance plan.
