Mission Moment
Aristotle is credited with the popular phrase “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Although there is some discrepancy whether Aristotle said this or not, and if he did, what his true intention was, the statement is thought provoking. These words speak volumes about the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and rallying around a central cause. These words also seem to resonate with our verse of the year for HU. As a reminder, our verse of the year is 1 Peter 4:10, which reads “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve on another.” God has knitted the gifts, talents, and abilities of the Forester Family together for such a time as this. When our gifts are used in community and in coordination with each other, they can be much more impactful and powerful than if used separately. Throughout the course of the 2019-2020 academic year, where this verse has served as a compass for our spiritual direction, we have used our gifts during high points such as the Step Forward public launch and challenging points such as our current trials with COVID-19. Through it all, the Forester Family has remained connected and focused squarely on using our gifts to fulfill the mission of Christ. Scholarship. Service. So thank you, Foresters, for giving your gifts that God has provided to continue the mission of Huntington University!
