MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Forester men’s basketball team has two of the top ten players in the Crossroads League in senior Konner Platt and sophomore Caleb Middlesworth as announced by the league earlier this afternoon.
Platt (Huntington, Ind., Huntington North HS) has been recognized by the CL each season with this year’s Second Team All-Conference badge his highest designation. He poured in 18.9 points per game to sit sixth in the league standings in scoring. The 6-2 guard also posted 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per night in his final campaign.
The sharp-shooter spent much of his time beyond the arc where he canned a team-best 79 threes to average 2.63 per game. Only three of Platt’s league peers have dropped in more triples per game than he has. Platt’s accuracy at the line was also noteworthy as he buried 82.6 percent of his freebies, the eighth best in the CL. His 44 points against Holy Family on November 16 tops the league in stellar points.
Platt wrapped up his Huntington career with 1,854 points to finish tenth on the program’s all-time scoring list. Additionally, he collected 454 rebounds and 254 assists over his four years in Forest green and white
Middlesworth (Oak Hill HS, Marion, Ind.) also earned a spot on the Second Team as voted on by the league coaches. Last year’s CL Freshman of the Year, the 6-8 forward is fourth in the league in scoring this season with his 19.3 points per game. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
He totaled 73 long balls and currently claims the No. 6 spot n the league standings for made threes per game at 2.61.
The Foresters wrapped up 2019-20 with an overall record of 14-16.
