Mission Moment

During chapel last Thursday, we heard from members of our Huntington University community who traveled abroad on missions trips during January term. These students and faculty members engaged in work for God’s kingdom all over the globe…from the Dominican Republic to Belize to Cambodia/Thailand to India. HU made an impact by taking the gospel to others as students and faculty members worked with youth in schools and through VBS, provided medical care, and partnered with organizations combating sex trafficking. It was clear from those who spoke that the experiences from these trips were life-changing on many levels. These changes reached far beyond the task that can sometimes be a focal point and included the people, relationships, and the interactions.

Matthew 28:19-20 highlights the Great Commission for us as a reminder of our calling. It reads, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” As vessels for God’s work, all we have to provide is a willingness….He will provide the rest! As Huntington University creates gateways and opportunities for our campus community to fulfill this Commission, we are clearly upholding our mission of Christ, Scholarship, and Service.
