Mission Moment – Integrity Day
On December 17, the Huntington University men’s basketball team hosted its 2nd Annual Integrity Day. Head Coach Ty Platt, who organizes the event, believes this is a great way for HU to connect with local youth and teach some valuable lessons along the way. “Overall, the whole day was a tremendous success,” Coach Platt said. “The HCCSC students had a great time. Josh Kesler and the five student-athletes—Konner Platt, Hank Pulver, Jarret Gray, Hannah Stoffel, and Kennedy Krull—all did an awesome job with the five core values program. The kids created a great atmosphere. We look forward to doing it again next year!”
As part of the festivities, all Huntington County 5th graders, their teachers, and some local school administrators were on campus for much of the day. The events kicked off with the aforementioned panel of Forester athletes sharing about the core values of the NAIA – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. The 5th graders then ate lunch before serving as an energetic and raucous crowd for our home basketball game. This year, the Foresters came out victorious, defeating East-West University 90-63.
The day featured more than just a tally for the Foresters in their win column. The Forester Basketball Program planted seeds that will serve these young people well in the future, demonstrated what serving Christ is all about, and exposed many in our community to the great place that Huntington University is. Like the Walk into My Future Day held last fall, connecting with young people, impacting lives, and providing unique opportunities fits nicely within our mission of promoting Christ through Scholarship and Service.
