INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Huntington senior Aspen Dirr had an epic weekend to earn the Crossroads League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week as announced earlier today.
Dirr kicked off Indiana Tech’s Strive for Greatness Invitational by running the third leg of the 4×800 meter relay where she and Mara McFarland, Molly Mitchell and Hannah Stoffel clocked in at 9:08.29 to hit the A Standard to automatically qualify for nationals.
The Hudson native went on to post two more A Standards on the day by winning the 3,000 meters in 10:08.29 and taking second in the 800 meters in 2:15.13. Dirr came into the meet with four A Standards already under her belt in the 600M, 1K, mile and 5K bringing her current total to seven which proves an NAIA record for most A Standards in an indoor season. Just as impressive is the fact that she ran all seven races within an eight-day span.
The Forester track and field program are on a break until the new year when they compete in the Fort Wayne Duals on January 18.
