Mission Moment
The public phase of the Step Forward comprehensive campaign kicked off this fall with a flurry of exciting events on campus. Huntington University recently held its annual Day of Giving, providing students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of the University an opportunity to support the Forester Fund. Events like these bring to the forefront the generosity of groups that support HU’s mission and vision. It also serves as a clear reminder that we have much to be thankful for. God has blessed our University since 1897 and clearly has plans and future blessings in store as we continue to experience support and God’s favor.
The advancement team has done an incredible job of organizing opportunities for giving. Yes, these efforts are about securing donations and resources for our University. But these efforts are also about unifying the Forester Family behind our mission and vision. During this season when there is an extra emphasis on thanksgiving, I think we all can be grateful for an advancement team that has its eyes set on a prize bigger than securing financial resources. They have cultivated an environment for our Forester Family to invest in the University and God’s work. As thankful as we can be for great days like the public launch of Step Forward and Day of Giving, we should remember to be grateful every day. Psalm 118:24 reminds us that there should not be “qualifiers” on our thankfulness. It reads, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” We should feel blessed on the Day of Giving, Thanksgiving Day, and every other day because they are all truly days the Lord created. When we reside in God’s goodness, it is much easier to remember that he is unceasingly serving as the biggest champion for our mission of serving Christ through Scholarship and Service.
