MEN’S SOCCER

The Crossroads League announced its 2019 Men’s Soccer All-Conference honorees and headlining the list for Huntington was junior Jake Erlandson.

In addition to earning First Team All-Conference accolades, Erlandson was tabbed the best defender in the league as voted on by the Crossroads League coaches. This fall marks the third time the conference has awarded a Defender of the Year badge.

As HU’s center back, Erlandson (Dayton Christian HS) anchors a backline that gives up an average of 0.8 goals per night and has posted nine clean sheets. The Waynesville (Ohio) native is also his team’s leading scorer with ten goals on the season, seven of which have been game-winners. He currently leads the nation in total game-winning goals.

For Erlandson, it’s his third straight All-League honor having been named to the Second Team in each of his first two seasons.

Senior Luke Unger (Carroll HS, Churubusco, Ind.) has also earned the respect of the league coaches by being voted Second Team All-League, the first CL designation of his Forester career. As HU’s second leading scorer, he’s found back netting eight times including the game-winner in Saturday’s title match.

The 6-1 midfielder has also dished out an assist to claim 17 points on the year. To date, Unger has 15 career goals and six assists.
