Mission Moment

The annual fall workday took place on campus on Saturday, October 19. Among other activities, the work featured tree planting, tulip planting, and landscaping at the multicultural house. The importance of service is emphasized throughout Scripture, with one of the clearest messages delivered in James 2:18. This Scripture reads, “But someone will say, You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” Service and works are ways Christians can profess their love for Christ and others without speaking a word. However, the great thing about serving is that often words, conversations, and connections are a result and natural byproduct of time spent working with others. Working alongside others brings with it an inherent bond, creating a glue that relationships can be built upon. In addition to beautifying our campus through a few projects during the workday, some relationship glue was created that will be long-lasting and impactful. A service-oriented workday is truly at the core of our University’s mission…showing Christ through Scholarship and Service.
