WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team’s season came to an end Wednesday night after a 3-0 loss to #21 Spring Arbor (8-4-5, 4-1-1) at Cougar Soccer Complex.

With this loss, HU wraps up the year with a 4-13 record which includes a 1-8 record in CL action for a share of ninth place in the standings. Only the top eight teams in the league advance to postseason play.

The Cougars were quick to get on the board with a PK in the opening five minutes of play. Aside from the freebie, the Foresters held their own the rest of the half to find themselves down by just one at the midway point. Forced to play defense most of the night finally took its toll as HU gave up two more goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Mackenzie Selvius was the thorn in Huntington’s side. The sophomore midfielder logged all three of SAU’s goal for the hat trick. Maddy Moan took the loss in goal having collected ten saves along the way.

“We opened the game well and had some bright moments against a good team,” said Coach Lewis. “We have a good foundation on which to build for the future!”
