WOMEN’S SOCCER

It was a long trip home for the Huntington women’s soccer team after being blanked, 5-0, by #RV Mount Vernon (9-4-3, 4-1-2) Wednesday night under the lights at Mount Vernon High School. With this loss, HU drops to 4-11 on the year which includes a 1-6 CL record.

MVNU’s Alexa Skal was a one-person wrecking ball. The junior forward scored three times in a 15-minute span starting at the 14:25 mark to notch a hat trick before halftime. The Cougars, currently ranked fourth in the CL standings, would score again just before intermission to take a 4-0 lead into break. They would strike once more within the opening two minutes of the second half on the way to the 5-0 final.

The Foresters managed just two shots on the evening to MVNU’s 20 to make for a frustrating night for Lewis and crew. “We had an off night tonight while Mount Vernon played very well – consequently the result.”

Maddy Moan took the loss for HU. The sophomore keeper finished with five saves.

Lewis and crew have two regular season matches remaining. They host Taylor on Saturday and wrap things up with a road trip to Spring Arbor on Wednesday.
