WOMEN’S TENNIS

The 4th-seeded HU women’s tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over 5th-seeded Taylor University Tuesday afternoon at Klopfenstein Courts in quarterfinal action of the Crossroads League tournament. The W sends Ferguson’s crew into the semis to face top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

The win is the Foresters’ second over the Trojans in less than a week with the first, a 5-2 decision, taking place Thursday. The stakes were high as it was the final match of the CL regular season with the winner securing the fourth seed as both teams entered the contest with identical 4-3 league records.

Today’s matchup was cut and dry as HU picked up the point in doubles before winning five of the six singles matches highlighted by Lanae Singleton’s comeback at the No. 3 spot. Down 9-5 in the third set tiebreaker, the Plymouth native rallied back to beat Lauryn Riegsecker 6-4, 4-6, 13-11.

With this win, the Foresters improve to 10-5 on the year.
