VOLLEYBALL
The HU volleyball team became the 19th victim of one of the top teams in the nation in 4th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at Luckey Arena in a three-setter, 25-13, 25-10, 25-16. The Foresters experienced firsthand that the Wildcats, still unblemished on the season, have deservedly earned their Top 5 ranking as they improve to 19-0 overall, 9-0 in league play.
“No matter who we are playing, we have to control our side of the net,” said Coach Herber. “We did not do that today. We had too many unforced errors, lacked vocal energy and did not adjust to the tempo of IWU’s offense.”
Today’s match wraps up the first round of conference play with the Foresters claiming a 9-10 record overall which includes a 3-6 record in CL action.
HU struggled to produce much offense with Paige Eakright posting six of her team’s 14 kills. Brandy Michie added three. Jennings Tacosik handed out 12 dimes while Ariene Butler collected that same number of digs. Tya Bynum finished with two of her team’s four blocks.
“Moving forward, I want to see each player and coach, myself included, take ownership of what he or she has control over,” said Herber. “If we pour everything we can into the process, we can surrender the outcomes to God.”
Huntington will look to get back on track Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Maple Leafs.
