WOMEN’S TENNIS

MARION, Ind. – The HU women’s tennis team had an excellent showing at ITA Regional Championships over the weekend at Indiana Wesleyan. The tournament features the NAIA’s finest in the Midwest.

Meg Dolde, seeded 9th, outplayed her ranking to make it clear she is one of the region’s best. The senior from Bad Schoenborn, Germany made it to the semifinals of the singles main draw which included beating for the second time in just over a week IWU’s Lizzie Bauss.

Dolde also went on to team up with Morgan Fitzpatrick to storm through the doubles main draw by winning their first four matches to make it to the finals where they finished as the runners-up.

The weekend was also highlighted by Lanae Singleton working her way through the consolation bracket of the main draw to land a spot in the finals. Makenzie Logan also had a fantastic few days of tennis to make it to the finals of the singles B draw.

“We had a very successful run through the tournament, getting several players into the final four or championship round,” said Coach Ferguson. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish the work.”

The Foresters now turn their attention back to league play for a 2:30 p.m. match at Bethel on Tuesday.
