MEN’S SOCCER
Huntington University junior Gabe Greenfield was tabbed this season’s first Crossroads League Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon.
Last year Greenfield was a three-time CL Player of the Week in addition to earning NAIA National Player of the Week accolades for the week of November 6.
The Foresters kicked off the season last week with a 2-0 win over Siena Heights before drawing even with #12 Georgia Gwinnett, 1-1, over the weekend. Against the Saints on Tuesday, Greenfield snagged six saves on his way to posting the shutout in net.
The Brazilian keeper followed up that performance by collecting seven saves and giving up just one goal against the national powerhouse Grizzlies on Saturday in 110 minutes of action in goal.
Huntington (1-0-1) is back in action on Wednesday to face #4 Madonna on the road at 4:00 p.m.
