Huntington University volleyball dominated the Crossroads League’s first weekly honors of the season by sweeping all three spots. The Foresters went 3-1 over the weekend at their own invitational with several players turning in outstanding performances as recognized by the league.

Senior Paige Eakright (Homestead HS, Fort Wayne, Ind.) earned this week’s Attacker of the Week accolades. The 5-10 outside hitter led the invitational in kills by racking up 60 in four matches which included a 20-kill outing against the University of the Cumberlands. She also posted 43 digs and five aces over the weekend.

Ariene Butler (Huntington North HS, Huntington, Ind.) bolstered HU’s defense and for her efforts was voted the league’s Defender of the Week. The junior libero reached a significant milestone in Huntington’s opening match against Brescia by tallying her 1,000th career dig. She finished the two-day tournament with 72 digs to average 4.8 digs per set. She also registered a.950 serving percentage by going 38-for-40 from behind the line.

Junior Jennings Tacosik (Lakewood Park Christian, Albion, Ind.) did a little bit of everything for her team to be named the CL Setter of the Week. In addition to running the Foresters’ offense by handing out 136 assists, she also collected 29 kills on 43 swings (1.9 kills/set) and a tourney-leading 16 aces (1.1 aces/set). Highlighting the 5-9 setter’s weekend was recording 41 assists, 12 kills and four aces in HU’s five-set win over Baker.

Huntington (3-1) is back in action tomorrow when they host Roosevelt University at 7:00 p.m.
