Director of Youth Ministries

The director of Youth Ministries is a part time position (approximately 10 hours per week) designed to develop a comprehensive youth ministry program. The Director is accountable to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and is under the immediate supervision of the Pastor. The Director will:

• Provide in-depth spirituality by equipping our Youth to live out their Christian faith
• Equip the Youth for leadership roles within and outside the church
• Develop an outreach for the Youth of the church and the community

Qualifications
1. Demonstrates a high level of commitment to Jesus Christ and the ministries of the Church.
2. Exhibits strong moral character and integrity.
3. Prefer a four-year degree in student ministry, Christian education, or related field.
4. Demonstrate an understanding in youth ministry philosophy, technique, and contemporary trends.
General Responsibilities
1. Develop a youth discipleship program with a focus on faith formation including
-Leading and overseeing youth activities throughout the year
-Coordinating in-depth learning opportunities and service experiences such as retreats, camps, work camps, and mission trips.
-Coordinate student leadership teams that will train student to become active Christian leaders.
2. Work with clergy and appropriate lay people to meet the pastoral care needs of the youth and their families.
-Attend the Education committee meetings and other meetings as invited.
3. Provide leadership and input in youth related Sunday school and worship ministries.
4. Attend TUMC on Sunday mornings.
5. Other tasks as designated by the Pastor.
