MEN’S GOLF
The Huntington men’s golf team wrapped up its regular season Monday at the Ackerman-Allen Shootout hosted by Taylor University where they finished tenth.
Cale Carr paced Sholund’s crew by firing a 76 each round to finish with an eight-over-par 152. The senior Texan finished 23rd out of 52 golfers. Logan De Maa posted a 156 for the day by carding a 78 each round while Andrew Weisheit turned in a 158 (80-78).
Rounding out HU’s scoring was David Beck with a 169 (84-85) and Nick Whitney (175 (90-85).
“We are learning a lot as a team right now,” said Sholund. “I see players gaining confidence and making better decisions on the course.
“We will be focusing on our short game in preparation for our conference tournament. As a team this is the area we lose most of our shots but as we clean that up, I believe they can have a strong performance.”
Taylor came out on top with a 570 followed by Marian (582), Olivet Nazarene (588), Grace (600), Mount Vernon (600), Taylor B (608), Wheaton (614), Madonna (616), Spring Arbor (622) and HU (635).
The Foresters will compete in the Crossroads League Tournament on April 29-30 at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend.
