MEN’S GOLF
The HU men’s golf team posted a 329 on day one of the Purgatory Intercollegiate before rain on Saturday forced day two to be cancelled. The Taylor-hosted match at Purgatory Golf Club was Huntington’s first of the spring.
Logan De Maa topped the Foresters with a 79 to finish 71st out of 97 golfers. Cale Carr posted an 82. David Beck and Andrew Weisheit both turned in an 84 while Nick Whitney carded an 87.
“We had a good first nine which we can build on,” said Sholund. “As we improve our game around the greens our scores will stay in the zone they need to be in, in order to be more competitive.
“I don’t think we are that far off and I’m excited to see the guys prepare for next weekend at Otter Creek and then Brickyard.”
Next up for Sholund’s crew is the Otter Creek Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ind. on April 5-6.
