It was a game the HU baseball team would rather forget as they were on the short end of a 12-2 decision at Grace College Thursday afternoon. With this loss, HU drops to 11-8 overall, 7-3 in league play while the Lancers move to 8-11 on the year, 4-6 in CL action.

The Foresters struck first when Austin Pritchard posted his first of two doubles to drive in Daniel Lichty in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead but the tables quickly turned without warning as the Lancers spent the next three frames having their way with their visitors.

In addition to cashing in on all ten of their hits, GC took advantage of three hit batsmen, three walks and two Huntington errors to score at will against a rattled Huntington crew. All 12 of Grace’s runs were contained in the second third and fourth innings for a 12-1 lead that easily stood the test of time.

Pritchard rounded out the day’s scoring by knocking in his second run with an RBI-single in the fifth to make for a quiet ending to the afternoon.

For as efficient as the Lancers were offensively, the Foresters were at the other end of the spectrum as they converted 14 hits into just two runs. Frame’s crew left 12 batters stranded.

Pritchard finished with three hits and two RBI to pace HU at the plate. Ian McCutcheon also collected three hits while Donovan Clark posted a pair.

DJ Moore took the brunt of the Lancers’ offensive prowess. The senior threw the first 2.2 innings to give up seven hits, eight runs and a walk while striking out two to be charged with the loss.

Rain forced the second game today to be rescheduled for Saturday. The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday. Opening pitch is slated for noon.
