MEN’S TENNIS

It came down to the wire for the HU men’s tennis team Wednesday afternoon at Klopfenstein Courts with the final outcome tipping in favor of the visiting Quakers of Earlham College (7-6) 5-4.

The Foresters picked up two wins in doubles action and added two more at No. 1 and No. 5 singles to enjoy a 4-3 advantage over their visitors. Needing the final two points, a gritty Quaker squad scratched and clawed their way back to snatch the victory from HU by outlasting Eckert’s crew at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

It was the first outing for the Foresters since late February as they drop to 9-7 on the year, 1-2 in spring action. Huntington road trips to Holy Cross on Saturday for a noon match-up with the Saints.
