Huntington University junior Alex McCutcheon was tabbed the Crossroads League Baseball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league earlier this afternoon.
McCutcheon picked up a pair of wins within a five-day span last week. Against Spring Arbor on Tuesday, the southpaw held the Cougars scoreless through the opening 5.2 innings on his way to earning the 8-0 win. Against Bethel on Saturday, the Huntington native tossed eight innings to pick up the complete-game 3-2 win.
For the week, McCutcheon spent 13.2 frames on the bump during which he gave 11 hits, two runs, only one of which was earned, and six walks while fanning 12 batters. His ERA on the week was 0.66.
McCutcheon is a perfect 5-0 on the year. He currently sits 9th in the NAIA in total runs allowed (8), 15th in total earned runs allowed (6), 15th in earned run average (1.57), 31st in wins (5) and 48th in hits allowed per 9 (6.55).
The Foresters are back in action this afternoon for a single nine to wrap up their series at Bethel. Opening pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
