WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

With the books closed on another basketball season, the awards continue to pile up for Huntington University junior Sarah Fryman. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 2018-19 Division II Women’s Basketball All-America teams and Fryman was one of 22 players named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Fryman, a First Team All-Conference pick, spent the season establishing herself as one of the nation’s most prolific scorers. The Huntington native (Huntington North HS) finished 21st nationally in scoring by pouring in 17.9 points per night. The sharp shooter also claimed the fifth spot in free throw percentage by going 120-for-136 from the line for a clip of 88.2 percent.

In addition to her scoring prowess, the 5-9 forward also wrapped up the year averaging 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals to help guide the Foresters to an overall record of 18-12.

Fryman currently ranks 19th on HU’s all-time scoring list with 1,195 career points. She eclipsed the four-digit landmark when she posted 27 points in Huntington’s 75-55 win over Bethel this past January.
