Huntington University Athletic Director Lori Culler has announced the hiring of Kelsey Herber as HU’s 14th head volleyball coach. No stranger to the Forester program, Herber will make the smooth transition from serving as an assistant for three years to taking over the reins this fall.

“We are thrilled to have Kelsey join our coaching staff,” said Culler. “As an alum of Huntington University and the volleyball program, she’s a Forester through and through, and her passion for all things HU is contagious.

“Kelsey’s desire to lead and mentor young women coupled with her knowledge and experience in coaching make her a great choice to head the volleyball program. We’re excited to watch the success of the program unfold under her leadership.”

In addition to her experience as an assistant at HU, Herber has spent five years coaching at Empowered Volleyball Academy. She has also spent the last number of summers working the Purdue Volleyball Camps.

Herber also brings collegiate playing experience to the position, having spent four years as an outside hitter on the Forester volleyball team, which included earning an All-Conference Honorable Mention badge her final year.

“Having the opportunity to invest in a program and University that has invested in me is an honor,” said Herber. “I am eager to lead and disciple these young women who I already love dearly.

“Forester Volleyball has had a special place in my heart for the past seven years that I have been a part of it as a player and assistant coach. Therefore, I am grateful that God has now blessed me with the opportunity to step into the head coach role.”

Herber graduated with a BA in Broadcast Fusion Media in 2016. This spring she will obtain her MA in Counseling from Huntington.
