BOWLING
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its postseason awards for bowling, and among the list of honorees were Huntington University seniors Brianna Cearbaugh and Heidi Tucker.
The pair made HU program history by being the first to earn All-Conference accolades. The 2018-19 season marked the first year the Foresters have been a part of a conference. Bowling was brought to campus in 2012.
Cearbaugh (Fort Wayne, Ind., Homestead HS) garnered First Team All-Conference honors for her consistency all season. She collected three All-Tournament Team badges over the course of the regular season highlighted by her second place finish individually at the WHAC Jamboree #2. She was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Boilermaker Classic and the WHAC Jamboree #4.
Tucker (Chesterton, Ind., Chesterton HS) was named Second Team All-Conference. Like Cearbaugh, she earned a spot on the WHAC Jamboree #4 All-Tournament Team. Additionally, the pair finished in the top 40 out of 476 bowlers at the Hoosier Classic, college bowling’s largest and oldest tournament.
The WHAC hosted four tournaments this season with the Foresters winning Jamboree #1 which proved the program’s first ever tournament win. Shockey’s crew went on to post a second place finish and two third place finishes in the other three tourneys and wrapped up the year by taking second at the WHAC Championships this past weekend.
HU seniors Abby Atkins and Justin Coleman were also honored by the WHAC as their respective team’s Champions of Character award winners. Atkins was also named to the league’s All-Academic Team as was junior Brianna Fish.
