Petition to Change Salamonie State Forest to Parks

A petition is being circulated to transfer the Salamonie River State Forest and Frances Slocum State Forest from the Division of Forester to the Division of State Parks and Reservoirs. The rationale is to change the status from state forest to state park in order to prohibit the commercially logging of the Salamonie and Frances Slocum State Forests. This proposed change in designation will better align the management of these areas with the ecological and recreational needs of the community.
