BOWLING
The Huntington bowling teams participated in their first Tier 1 event of the season, the National Collegiate Team Match Games, over the weekend where the women finished 11th and the men placed 20th.
It marks the first of three Tier 1 events. The tournament, held at Western bowl in Indianapolis, featured six team games on Saturday and 20 baker games on Sunday.
“We did good job with making spares, but just never found the formula for consistently throwing strikes,” said Coach Shockey.
The 16th-ranked HU women posted a score of 8,602 on the weekend to claim their 11th place finish out of 18 teams. After knocking down 5,150 pins (858/game average) on Saturday for the team games for an 858/game average, the Foresters tallied 3,452 pins in Sunday’s 20 baker games for a 176.2/game average.
The Huntington men registered a score of 9,059 to finish 20th out of 28 teams. The men scored a total of 5,478 pins (913/game average) on Saturday to sit in 21st. On Sunday, they bowled a total of 3,581 (179.1/game average) to climb up a spot after baker play.
The Foresters are back in action on December 1 for the WHAC Jamboree #3 at Westgate Lanes in Michigan.
