MEN’S SOCCER
For the third time this season, the HU men’s soccer team swept the league’s weekly honors as announced by the Crossroads League office earlier today.
For sophomore Gabe Greenfield, it’s his third Defensive Player of the Week badge. He opened up the year with the league’s first DPOW honor while his most recent designation came last week when he was also tabbed the NAIA National Player of the Week.
In Saturday’s Crossroads League championship match, the Brazilian keeper collected five saves on his way to earning the win in net against top-seeded Spring Arbor.
Freshman Ben Arnold garnered the CL Offensive Player of the Week honor. The rookie midfielder scored his team’s first goal of the match and then assisted the second to help guide the Foresters to a 2-1 win over the Cougars.
With this W, the Foresters (11-7-3) captured the program’s first ever conference tournament championship while also securing the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament where HU will face Central Methodist on November 17. It marks the fourth time Huntington has punched their ticket to the big stage.
