MEN’S SOCCER

For the second time this season, the HU men’s soccer team swept the league’s weekly honors as announced by the Crossroads League office earlier today.

Senior Matheus Louzada was tabbed this week’s Offensive Player of the Week while sophomore Gabe Greenfield earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

In the Foresters’ two playoff wins last week, Louzada played a role in four of HU’s five goals. Against 3rd-seeded Bethel on Wednesday, the crafty midfielder scored his team’s first goal in a 2-1 upset in the Crossroads League quarterfinals.

In Saturday’s 3-1 semifinals win over 7th-seeded IWU, Louzada logged the game-winner while assisting Huntington’s other two goals. For the week, he logged six points and upped his season total to seven goals and ten assists.

Greenfield stood tall in frame to pick up both tournament wins by giving up just one goal per match. He collected seven saves on the week. To date, the Brazilian has earned nine wins in net.

Huntington (10-7-3) will be playing in the Crossroads League finals for the first time in program history on Saturday at top-seeded Spring Arbor. Kick-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
