Poking Buttons Research is NOT – a J-Term class offering tip.
Research has shown that students who engage in research, a literature review and/or actually doing lit review informed research, have a better chance for succeeding academically and in life situations (I can send you my bibliography if you wish). I would advocate that any of you who are advising students going on to graduate work OR students who are struggling with their academics, encourage your students to take the J-Term research class with the Yoda speak title. The class will be interactive, going in to depth about using various formats and sources, spending time learning how to formulate GOOD questions that have meaning to the individual or to society, talking about how to determine if a source is valid, and how to “tolerate” others’ opinions, and what the word tolerate really means in the light of Scripture. There is a lot more that we will do during the session but you get the idea… this will be an in-depth class that spans more than just poking buttons. I hope to see some of your students for J-Term.
