WOMEN’S GOLF
The Forester women’s golf team took a four-person JV squad to the Mount Vernon Cougar Classic where they finished middle of the pack in fifth out of ten teams. HU posted a 385 after the first 18 holes and then turned in a 132 after the last nine holes for a 517 for the 27-hole event.
Alexandria Maris paced Sholund’s crew with a 126 (88, 38). Sophie Frazier (97, 48) and Katie Spring (99, 46) each posted a 145 while Sara Scott round out HU’s scoring with a 150 (101, 49).
“This was an opportunity for our JV team to gain more experience and playing time and they did a good job in tough conditions,” said Sholund. “They have been focused on lowering second round scores and we were successful in setting ourselves up for that but the event was shortened to 27 holes.
“I am proud of the effort this team is putting into improving. We sadly say goodbye to Sophie Frazier as this was her last collegiate event. We are thankful for her years here with the Forester women’s golf program and we will pray for her to have tremendous success as she moves forward with her graduate studies at HU.”
Madonna topped the leaderboard with a 475 followed by Grace (482), Mount Vernon (503), Saint Francis (516), HU (517), Ohio Valley (519), Shenandoah (536), Grace B (544), Madonna B (550), Muskingum (597).
With this tournament, Huntington wraps up their fall season.
