MEN’S GOLF

Senior Logan De Maa fired a 111 (73, 38) in the Mount Vernon Cougar Classic, adjusted to be a 27-hole event, to guide the HU men’s golf team to a seventh place finish at the Chapel Hill Golf Course on Saturday.

Cale Carr finished second for HU with a 113 (75, 38). The next three Foresters shot within four strokes of each other. Andrew Weisheit posted a 122 (77, 45), Keith Mineer carded a 123 (81, 42) and David Beck shot a 125 (83, 42).

“We did not finish this event the way we are capable of but I do think there are many positives to take from this event and our fall season – especially in the consistency of our scoring from positions 1-5,” said Sholund. “We should certainly be gaining confidence in our ability to compete with any team.

“I look forward to our offseason preparations to focus on how to improve upon the foundations they have set this fall.”

Ohio Valley won the men’s title with a 435 followed by Old Dominion (441), Mount Vernon (452), Malone (456), Saint Francis (461), Muskingum (462), HU (466), Otterbein (468), Columbus State (503) and Carlo (570).

This weekend’s event wraps up the fall season for the Foresters.
