WOMEN’S TENNIS
The fall portion of the HU women’s tennis team’s season came to an end Thursday afternoon by way of a 5-2 loss to 2nd-seeded Marian University in the semifinals of the Crossroads League tournament. The 3rd-seeded Foresters advanced to the semis after cruising past 6th-seeded Bethel 9-0 last night in the CL quarterfinals.
The match was called after the Knights secured five points which meant the last two singles matches didn’t finish. HU’s two wins came at No. 1 doubles where Meg Dolde and Morgan Fitzpatrick outlasted Maria Angela Sunga and Maria Lueken, 8-6, and then at No. 3 singles where Lisa Colling topped Laura Kuebler in a come-from-behind three-setter, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
The win today sends the Knights to the championship match against top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday while Huntington (9-4) has a break until the spring.
