WOMEN’S SOCCER

The #17 Knights of Marian University scored a pair of goals in each half to run away with a 4-0 win over the HU women’s soccer team at St. Vincent Field Wednesday evening. The shutout is MU’s fifth clean sheet of the year.

The Knights, thanks to the foot of Mackenzie Hall, scored 15 seconds into the contest to set a tone that their visitors struggled to match. Hall was back at it in the 24th minute to log another, bringing her season total to four.

The first half came and went with MU holding that 2-0 lead along with a 13-4 edge in shots taken. They would go on to outshoot HU 10-4 in the final 45 minutes, with two of those shots finding back netting to put the game out of reach.

Huntington was up against a quality Marian side that had struggled as of late by going 0-2-2 in its last four outings leading up to tonight’s match. The Knights are now 6-3-2 overall, 1-1-1 in league play.

Danielle Dehner took the loss in goal for HU. The rookie keeper finished with six saves.

The Foresters (3-9, 0-3) hit the road again on Saturday to take on Bethel at 2:00 p.m.
