VOLLEYBALL

The #16 Cougars of Saint Francis made it clear why they’re one of the top teams in the nation by disposing of the Forester volleyball team in three sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-16, Wednesday night in Platt Arena.

USF’s offense was clicking on all cylinders as they nearly doubled up their hosts in kills with 44 to HU’s 26. Efficiency was the name of the game for the Cougars (20-3, 9-1) as they registered an impressive .464 hitting percentage as a team, the Cougars’ best performance on file since 2012 when they posted a .471 hitting percentage against Iowa Wesleyan.

Neither team landed a player in double-digit kills. Paige Eakright posted a match-high nine kills. Tailor Schultheis finished with five kills while Brandy Michie added four.

Jenna Tacosik passed out 23 assists while Ariene Butler tallied a match-best 17 digs.

The Foresters (6-12, 3-7) head to the IWU Invitational this weekend for four matches beginning with a 4:00 p.m. clash on Friday with the University of St. Francis (IL).
