WOMEN’S TENNIS

It came down to No. 5 singles where Lanae Singleton outlasted Molly Fitzpatrick in a three-set thriller, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, that went well into the night in a conference clash with Grace College Wednesday at Klopfenstein Courts.

The final point tipped the scale in favor of the HU women’s tennis team, 5-4, as Ferguson’s crew improves to 3-1 overall, 2-1 in league play.

Singleton’s W was Huntington’s fourth win in singles play as they trailed 1-2 after doubles action where Meg Dolde and Morgan Fitzpatrick, sister to Grace’s Molly Fitzpatrick, mounted an epic comeback at No. 1 doubles to down Emily Mast and Jenna Jackson 9-8 (7-5).

With tonight’s win, the Foresters upped their win streak over GC to seven as 2013 marked the last time the Lancers got the best of HU.
