Thank you
Dear Huntington University Family,
My family and I want to express our thanks to you for your kindness and understanding during the past few weeks as we grieve the sudden passing of my mother, Mary DeNicolo. Mom had a warm smile and a sweet spirit. She always found good in everyone. She loved unconditionally. So many of our cousins, friends and neighbors called her their “second” mom.
Seventeen years ago mom, who was active and vibrant, “the lady you couldn’t keep pace with in the mall,” was stricken with myasthenia gravis. She was hospitalized for several months and was on a breathing and feeding tube to survive. The family surrounded her with love and encouragement. She fought back and overcame. A few years later she began to show signs of Parkinson’s disease as well. She feel and broke her hip, they told her she would be wheelchair bound and never walk again. Six weeks later she was walking. She overcame lymphoma and breast cancer, probably caused by the heavy doses of medication to control the myasthenia gravis. She had good months and some really bad months but always fought the good fight to get back as much strength and mobility as possible. My dad was able to care for her in their home until the final four days of her life. They were married for 65 years.
It is truly a blessing to work with such thoughtful and caring people who love the LORD. Thank you so much for the cards, emails, kind words and especially your prayers. Blessings, Jean Cole
