Theatre Department to attend Regional Festival!!!

This past weekend, the theatre department’s production of RECKLESS was selected to attend our regional college festival this January. RECKLESS was produced during last year’s main season. This is a tremendous honor and a first for Huntington University!

KCACTF (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) is dedicated to encouraging, recognizing, and celebrating the finest and most diverse work produced in university and college theater programs. Through state, regional, and national festivals, KCACTF participants celebrate the creative process, see one another’s work, and share experiences and insights within the community of theater artists. KCACTF honors excellence of overall production and offers student artists individual recognition through awards and scholarships in playwriting, acting, criticism, directing, and design.

I am thrilled that we have been presented this terrific opportunity to represent the best HU has to offer in theatre arts alongside the other 5 selected plays and musicals within our region. Our region is one of the largest and most competitive within the United States. It includes Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and western parts of Ohio. Ranging from larger state institutions to small private colleges and universities like ours, close to a hundred schools are represented within our region and participate regularly in festival year-round.

While students are busy studying these next few days, our theatre students will add remounting rehearsals for the play to their already hectic schedules. Then, they will return early to remount the production of RECKLESS in Zurcher auditorium before we leave for festival on January 7th. There will be an invited performance open to the community on either Saturday, January 4th in the evening or Sunday, January 5th in the afternoon. So, if you are around campus during this time, please come out and support us! Confirmed dates and times of the performance will be announced around January 3rd on our Facebook page and also through Forester Feed/word of mouth, etc. The event will be free admission! However, donations can be made to help offset the costs of taking a production on the road. Please do NOT contact the box office for this special performance. If you missed last spring’s production of RECKLESS – now is your chance to see it again!

I am so proud of this dedicated and talented cast and crew!
