Hotel Amenities

January 9, 2018 General Comments Off on Hotel Amenities Posted By: Jack Heller

Colleagues:
Last year, students on the Civil Rights J-term trip collected the free hotel amenities and contributed them to Place of Grace, a local ministry for women rebuilding their lives. This year, Place of Grace currently has enough amenities. However, in February I can bring hotel amenities to incarcerated women when I go to visit the Logan Correctional Complex in Illinois. (I will be doing a workshop on the Indiana poet Mari Evans there.) I can bring soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and coffee packs. If you want to spend a few bucks on trial size toothpastes, I can take those too. I am checking on tea packets and the coffee condiments. I can not bring amenities packaged in glass, aerosols, floss, mouthwash, and the pens–though I am willing to collect these for another place if you know where they can be used.

Please encourage your students to collect these for the women in the Logan prison during your j-term trips, and please collect these in your own travels during January. If we pack our own amenities for our travels in January, we can get a number of free amenities in just a few days of J-term trips. I am willing to collect these in my office until my trip to Logan. You help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Blessings
Jack Heller

Healthy Insurance Tips

January 8, 2018 General Comments Off on Healthy Insurance Tips Posted By: Jean Cole

In an effort to pass along good information and also help you in obtaining the best possible pricing for your medical services, I wanted to inform you of an MRI center that is in the Parkview Health Network. One of our employees recently went to this facility and was very pleased with their care.

This is located in Fort Wayne and the brochure shows $350.00 for the MRI and reading of the MRI. The employee indicated there was Christian music playing on the radio when they got there, there are plaques hanging on the wall about FAITH, and one of the doctors (I think it was the owner) also has his degree and is a pastor…. This employee felt very much at ease when they went in and was very satisfied with the testing process. While we are not providing a recommendation, you may want to check them out if you have a need for orthopedic, neurological, abdominal, or vascular MRI.

Car Break-Ins

January 8, 2018 General Comments Off on Car Break-Ins Posted By: Chief Justin Faw

There have been at least two vehicles broken into while parked on the Campus within the last day or so. HUPD will be focusing more on the parking lot areas at night but we ask that you be mindful of locking your doors and calling the campus police phone if you see suspicious people looking in or around vehicles.
