On Wednesday, Oct 11, at 4 pm in Hiner Hall of the Science Hall, Forrest Hobbs, Research & Development HPC Site Manager at NOAA, will be speaking on “High Performance Computing as a Career.” He will give an overview of high performance computing, as well as applications to research at NOAA, business, and careers, as a part of the Smith Lecture Series in the Natural & Mathematical Sciences. This is the father of our own Dr. Collin Hobbs. Elective chapel credit will be given for students attending the entire presentation.

Today, Friday, Oct 6, at 4 pm in Hiner Hall of the Science Hall, 2006 HU alumna Emily Padilla will be speaking on “Teaching Science in Missions.” As a HU graduate with a degree in biology, Emily has been serving in Zambia, Africa since early 2013 with her main role being a science teacher in a tutoring program for secondary students. She works through New Life Center, a ministry of the United Methodist Church. Elective chapel credit will be given for attending the entire presentation.

All HU Faculty and Staff are cordially invited to attend the 2017 Huntington University Hall of Fame induction ceremony set for Saturday, November 11, 2017. Our 2017 inductees include Amy (Berry) Metzger (Women’s Basketball), Caleb Kennedy (Men’s Basketball), Dr. Paul Schilling (Men’s Basketball) and Nick Johnson (Men’s Track and Cross Country).
A luncheon is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in the Huntington University Habecker Dining Commons Banquet Room. In the afternoon the 2017 inductees will again be recognized at half-time of the Forester men’s basketball game.

Alpha Gamma Pi sorority’s annual 5K Homecoming Fun Run/Walk is Saturday, October 7. The Fun Run/Walk begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Plex. You can register at the Plex from 7:00 until 8:00 on the morning of the Run/Walk. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for students who are at least 14 years old, and $5 for children under the age of 14. A t-shirt is included in the registration fee. This is a great way to begin your Homecoming Saturday!
