Huntington University freshman hurler Meghan Fretz was named the Crossroads League Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 16.

Fretz (Leesburg, IN, Wawasee HS) recorded two wins last week which included handing No. 2 Marian its first league loss in convincing fashion – an 8-0 shutout – in addition to snagging a W against the Pilots. She yielded just one earned run over 15.0 innings for a 0.47 earned-run average in three outings.

The rookie pitcher currently ranks 13th in the NAIA in total hits allowed (34), 16th in total earned runs allowed (12), 19th in opponent batting average (0.193), 26th in hits allowed per 9 (5.10) and 32nd in total runs allowed (20).

The Foresters (17-12, 12-7) are back in action tomorrow at Spring Arbor University.
