The Huntington baseball team’s win streak remained intact Thursday afternoon at MU Ballpark as they cruised to an 8-1 win over Marian University. The Foresters (9-12) have won seven straight and remain perfect in Crossroads League action at 7-0.

Nick Davit posted big numbers at the plate. The rookie power hitter unleashed for a three-run blast in the top of the fourth to not only break a 1-1 stalemate but blow open the game at 4-1. He then put the exclamation point on the contest in the seventh by singling to right, the same side of the field as his third dinger of year, to drive in the game’s final run.

When all was said and done, Davit claimed two of his team’s eight hits and drove in half of HU’s run. Dan Lichty also registered a pair of run-scoring hits. He drove in Donovan Clark in the first with a base poke to right field. He did the exact same thing in the fifth. The fifth also saw Adrian Perez knock in a run with a fielder’s choice.

In addition to scoring twice on Lichty’s singles, Clark would touch home once more in the sixth on a throwing error after being hit by a pitch to open up the frame.

After claiming the dub at Saint Francis on Monday, DJ Moore picked up his second win of the week by tossing the first five frames against the Knights during which he gave up three hits, an unearned run and four walks while striking out six. Colton Punches then gave up just two more hits while striking out four in four innings of scoreless relief to secure the win.

Coach Frame’s crew heads back down to Marian on Saturday for a doubleheader with the Knights at 1:00 p.m.
