The HU baseball team remained perfect in league play with a 7-0 shutout over Saint Francis (8-19, 5-5) Monday afternoon at the ASH Centre. The W is also the Foresters’ sixth straight as they improve to 8-12 overall.

It was pitching by committee for Frame’s crew as four different Foresters took to the bump with sophomore hurler Mason Shinabery tossing the first four innings during which he gave up just one hit while striking out six.

DJ Moore took the mound next and was credited with the win. In three innings of work, he gave up just two hits and a walk while striking out three. Alex McCutcheon and Tarrin Beachy each pitched an inning of relief after that and between the two, gave up just one hit while striking out two.

Huntington took control early by scoring three times in their first at bat and adding another in the second for a lead that would last until the ninth when the visitors piled on three more runs all the while blanking the Cougars for their first shutout of the season.

HU opened up play with a two-out rally to make for probably the most notable frame for the Foresters. Daniel Lichty was tagged with a pitch to get things started after which Tyler Zimske singled to right field. With runners on the corners, an errant throw allowed both to score to keep Huntington’s drive alive. After an Adrian Perez base poke, Nick Davit doubled in Huntington’s third and final run of the frame.

It was a cheap run in the second as Donovan Clark was the second Forester to be hit by pitch and after stealing second; the speedster came around to score on a fielding error in right field for a 4-0 advantage.

HU finished with ten hits on the day. After logging four through the first two frames, Huntington managed just two over the next six innings before pounding out four in the ninth for three more runs. After three singles and two outs, Zimske drew a base on balls for a nontraditional RBI after which Jamar Weaver deliverd a hard-hit ground ball up the middle for a two-run single to close out the scoring and claim his third RBI of the afternoon.

The Foresters are scheduled to host Grace tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
