The #RV HU baseball team wrapped up their weekend by picking up their first win in convincing fashion with a 13-1 thrashing over the University of Cincinnati Clermont College Saturday afternoon at Cumberlands’ Doyle Buhl Stadium.

Huntington did most of their damage in the third when they sent 12 batters to the plate for nine runs on seven hits and a walk while taking advantage of an error and three wild pitches. Highlighting the frame were back-to-back doubles by Adrian Perez and Jake Hansen that resulted in three runs being scored.

Nick Davit singled in a run after the pair of two-baggers, stole second and then touched home on back-to-back wild pitches for probably one of the most unique experiences of the frame. Donovan Clark drove in two more runs with a shot up the middle. HU’s other runs came by way of an error and a Dan Lichty RBI-groundout.

The Foresters’ first run came in their opening at bat on a Jamar Weaver fielder’s choice so after their monster third, HU had a commanding 10-0 advantage. The Cougars lone run came in the top of the fourth but it paled in comparison to what had happened one frame earlier and what was to come in the bottom of the frame.

Perez drilled a solo shot over the center field fence for his first dinger of the season. Davit followed suit by cranking one out of the park two batters later with Tyler Zimske on board for a fourth inning that saw Huntington’s final three runs of the game.

When all was said and done, Frame’s crew sifted through five pitchers and pounded out 12 hits. UC Clermont finished with ten hits.

Davit collected two hits and three RBI to pace HU offensively. Clark, Perez and Hansen added a pair of hits and drove in two runs each. Adam Roser was the fifth Forester to register two base pokes.

Starting pitcher Colton Punches picked up his first collegiate win on the mound. In six innings of work, he gave up nine hits and one run while striking out seven after which Trent Lawson tossed an inning of scoreless relief.

With this win, Frame’s crew improves to 1-9.
