INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The HU track and field team took a partial roster to Anderson University’s Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational on Saturday for a last chance opportunity to qualify for NAIA Indoor Nationals.

While the Foresters did not punch any tickets to the big stage, several athletes had quality performances.

Jessica Chojnacki brought home Huntington’s only win by clocking in at 1:03.67 in the 400 meters. Elijah Chesterman finished third in the 800 meters in 2:02.98. CJ Robertson also ran the 800 meters and claimed fifth in 2:04.65.

Nick Childs posted a 2:42.93 in the 1,000 meters to finish fourth.

Codi Wiersema shaved three seconds off his mile time to move from tenth to eighth in the Huntington record books with his new PR of 4:27.71.

Zach Williams also turned in a personal best in weight throw with his toss of 39-09, surpassing his old PR by almost four inches. He currently sits tenth in the HU record books in weight throw.

The Foresters will now turn their attention to the outdoor portion of their schedule. First up will be the Easter Twilight Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan on March 24.
